An intimate, social experience of content
The video turntable plays content on a bar table to the people around it, via overhead projection. By reading its QR code, they can connect their mobiles in order to select content, either from the local venue’s menu or from YouTube.
Through presence detection, the turntable rotates the video to the most recent person to walk up to it, or brings it around to whoever makes a hand gesture.
The turntable showed trailers in the bar at Encounters Film Festival.
The turntable can also play interactive content which responds to gestures in unique ways. For example, for Magma poetry magazine at Ledbury Poetry Festival we made the ‘pool of poets’, in which a poet’s head surfaces from a pool wherever you place your hand.
